Arabian Ranches garden
A flat lawn nobody used turned into a shaded terrace, an outdoor kitchen and a planted edge.
The brief.
Full sun from noon, a lawn that needed constant water, and no reason to go outside between May and October.
What we did.
Laid a raised porcelain terrace off the living room, built a louvred pergola with lighting and fans, an outdoor kitchen with a gas point, and replaced most of the lawn with gravel beds and heat-tolerant planting on drip irrigation.
The result.
Water use down [X]%. The family eats outside from October to April and the terrace is usable in summer evenings under the fans.
